Boogie Writes 100th Post!
Hey team - we made it! 100 posts on this Bad Larry! Woooo! I bet you didn’t think we would make it! You probably didn’t even know we were going for some sort of arbitrary mile marker to validate my ego! Well, we were! And we did it! Hooray! Yip yip!
Seriously, I am so grateful that you have been with me on this journey for the past year or so. Believe it or not, I work extremely hard on this nonsense. I take it as a point of personal pride to provide you with some of the funniest, most original and engaging writing from my noggin twice a week. The fact that so many of you read and respond to it is endlessly humbling. I am especially grateful to my paid subscribers. Not that I play favorites, but you’re totally my favorites. So thank you thank you and thank YOU!
But… (you knew there was a but, right?) with the world premiere of TALLYWACKER this past things are picking up in other areas of my creative life. So I’m finding the pace of twice-weekly posting to be untenable. What does this mean?
A) Don’t worry! I’m going to keep writing! I know this sounds like an “I’m stopping the blog” post, but I swear it’s not. I really enjoy writing and I love that this is a space over which I have complete control. I started the newsletter because I have all sorts of comedic and creative impulses that don’t neatly fit into any category. That is still the case. I love writing here. The silliness will continue. But…
2) The writing will probably slow down a bit. Believe it or not, twice a week can be a blistering pace. My writing style is rewriting, reworking, and trying to make every single word hilarious and perfect. I have tried to give less of a shit, but it just doesn’t work. It’s not in my DNA. For work and personal life reasons (which I may get into at some point), I simply don’t have the time to write as much as I have been. The reason I opened to a paid subscription model was to see if I could dedicate more time to writing without going broke. While I am grateful for the subscribers I do have, the numbers unfortunately do not generate enough for me to prioritize the newsletter over other, more pressing fiduciary obligations i.e. not dying. I can’t tell you exactly the pace of the posts in the future, but it is likely to be more sporadic. So…
III) Feel free to not re-up your paid subscription. I will not be hurt, I promise. When I started this newsletter, I committed to two articles a week. I believe strongly in giving you your money’s worth and hopefully you have been satisfied. Since I am not going to be able to manage that pace anymore, I am morally and ethically releasing you from our agreement. You are free! Swim with the dolphins! Parasail with a Mormon! Go nuts, you beautiful, feather-covered pegasi!
2024 is fixing to be quite a year for your boy Brendo. I’ve got a new movie out. There will be new adventures and challenges. This newsletter has been a tremendous outlet for me and will continue, I promise. I am eternally grateful and humbled that you are along this journey with me. I won’t let you down. Except the times that I do. I kind of suck like that.
